3 Unique Food startups of India

With the rising startup culture in India, many aspiring entrepreneurs keep waiting for that one unique million dollar idea to hit them, hardly do they realise that it's not always about the unique idea rather the key could be implementing a basic idea in the most efficient and effective way. Examples of few such brilliant startups in the food industry are:

1. Samosa Singh

Samosa Singh Co-founded by husband and wife Shikhar Veer Singh and Nidhi Singh in 2016. Realising the need of hygiene in the king of Indian snacks- samosas, both of them wanted to do something innovative about the delicious but oil dripping snack. The snack being loved by all is also easily available in India, so what is so unique about samosas of Samosa Singh? Their unique strategies starting from innovations in flavours- apart from potato masala they decided adding dry fruit, vegetables, kadai paneer in samosas. Spending a lot of time in research and development, they developed interlocking samosa design so that it does not absorb much oil making it favourite of health conscious population as well. They defined a specific formula of making their samosas so that it's taste does not changes every single time and also took care that their is same experience in every outlet considering its interior and even chairs and tables. Not only the garnishing and presentation part but they decided to follow trends with festivals like Christmas, diwali and other special days. All this led to huge recall value in customers and Samosa Singh reached great heights.

2.Wow!Momo

From a small counter in shopping shop to outlets spread across 17 cities with 2700 employees and networth of ₹860 Crores currently, the journey of Wow!Momo has truly been an amazing one. Started by friends Sagar J Daryani and Binod k. Homagai. In August 2008 who met at St.Xavier's College inspired by the usual momo selling aunty outside school, Sagar was so fascinated by this snack and with the vision  that if foreign brands like KFC and Domino's can capture indian market, then why can't an indian brand capture foreign market. From basic steam momos to momo burger dessert, wow momo has variety of over 20 momos. The startup has also started the humble cause of donating ₹1 for free cancer hospitals for every momo meal sold. To manage the numbers they went for another co founder for stake of equity of their established business as they believed that it's not how much share of the pie you have but how big the pie is. The same chef whom they paid 3k back then now earns 1 and half lakh Salary because they simply believed to make wealth you need to share it.

3. iD Fresh

By spending Zero money on marketing, the company that won marketing idea of year award -iD Fresh. Started by P C Musthafa in 2005 from Bengaluru. After working for different companies abroad, PC Musthafa came back to India. After return, he one day saw his cousin struggling with selling idli batter packages due to various issues like hygiene and packaging. From there aroused the idea of iD fresh- the product that focused on hygiene idli dosa batter with 100% natural and organic idli dosa batter. They also received the best marketing idea of year award. alongwith earning the trust of customers for packaged food. P C Musthafa believed that the best way to earn trust of people is to trust them back, so he introduced 40 different fridges in 40 different apartments with a box kept aside of payment but with no security of payment. Initially half the customers would pay under no security and half won't. But slowly the product was so loved because of the quality that people would actually go to the shops to take it and pay for it. The company has over the networth of over ₹286 Crores with selling their products across borders. PC Musthafa was simply a firm believer of idea that you need not to spend lakhs of rupees on marketing if you have the right product, right packaging and right service.

Concluding, it's not always about working on  glorifying ideas but rather working efficiently on a basic idea that could solve a problem and people could connect with.
